BOOK COACHING
& MENTORSHIP

with the Paper Raven Books team

Write your manuscript, publish your book, and

grow your readership as an author,

Guided by our best practices and working directly

with our team of publishing professionals.

Here are the phases we'll walk through together in the
Book Coaching & Mentorship program:

THE MANUSCRIPT: Writing & Revising

  • Explore the best ways to give shape to your initial thoughts until they are fully formed in a compelling “narrative arc” that will serve as the structure for your entire book.

  • Understand two aspects of structure, “skeletal structure” and “thematic structure,” so that your book rests on the sturdy bones of logic, fleshed out in the form of a meaningful journey for the reader. Together, these two aspects of structure will ensure that your book leaves a lasting impression.

  • Learn a systematic way to research in multiple passes, as you’re sketching, so that you know your book is credible, contributing to the discourse on your chosen topic, and helping your reader truly understand the value of your message.

  • Practice moving from a high-level outline into writing sections and chapters without losing the motivation to write the book.

  • Discover how to continue writing, week-after-week. Even when you have done all the research and collected all the details and you know exactly what you want the book to look like, you might have no clue how to start. We’ll show you how to start and KEEP your writing momentum.

  • Find out how to take a skeleton of a concept and iteratively layer on descriptive detail that keeps the reader engaged and expands the reader’s experience without being overly wordy.

  • Finally feel comfortable with deciding that—yes—the manuscript is DONE (because you’ve checked every single box, from the copyright page and preface to resources and acknowledgments), and you’re confidently ready to proceed toward publication.

  • Understand the best practices for a bestselling title and subtitle, as well as a compelling description for your book—all needed before you even approach a designer about a book cover!

  • Plus, get 1:1 feedback as you’re writing from one of our senior book coaches, as well as feedback from peer writers who are also writing nonfiction books! We’ll even help you nail down your title, subtitle, and description before your book goes into publication.

THE BOOK: Designing & Publishing

  • Discover all of the “gotchas” and how to make the best decisions with your ISBNs, publishing set up, and legal aspects of writing a book.

  • Explore the best ways to incorporate a stand-out image, typography, and colors into a book cover that catches the readers’ attention, on a bookshelf or on the Amazon bookstore.

  • Find out which elements are necessary for a beautiful interior design that has that professional polish, from chapter fonts and running heads to design elements and quotes.

  • Work directly with our team to design your book cover, as well as a full interior design of your book. (Yes, both cover design and interior design are 100% custom!)

  • We will even upload your files for you, so that you know it’s all done RIGHT and with the best modern publishing practices in place.

THE PLAN: Branding & Marketing

  • Understand how to maximize your book’s visibility on Amazon bookstore, as well as what opportunities are available for your book with niche influencers, social media opportunities, book awards, endorsements, and more.

  • Find out what you need to know to design an effective author website, grow your email list, and expand your platform before, during, and after your book launch.

  • Work directly with our team to build your author website, create, and expand your email list of readers. (Yes, we’re building YOUR website— 100% custom!)

  • Create your personal book marketing action plan for organizing your book launch team, sharing effective social media content, networks of book promotion opportunities, book awards, and more.

  • Confidently slot every one of these pieces into a simple, clear timeline that will help you to launch a book with massive visibility, hit #1s in your book’s categories, and gather a slew of reviews—all during your book launch!

  • PLUS, know exactly where to best spend your time and energy after the book launch to continue selling your book and growing your readership.

This is a hybrid program, so some pieces are workshops that cover foundational concepts that you’ll need to know as an author and are available for you at your convenience. (We all have busy lives, so let’s be efficient when it makes sense to do so!)

Some pieces are group writing sessions, Q&A sessions, or critique workshops that are live, will be scheduled in advance, and will seek to accommodate different schedules. We’ve found that getting real-time feedback from our coaches, as well as other writers, is incredibly helpful for keeping you moving through certain milestones of the author journey, like writing your manuscript, making decisions on your book cover, or prepping for your book launch.

And some pieces, it’s just better for a professional to do for you! Our goal is to make this author journey both affordable and a smooth process for you. So, our team is actually plugging in to literally DO the most essential (and daunting!) pieces of the author journey with you, to make sure it’s done professionally, meaning:

  • One of our senior book coaches will review your book structure with you.
  • One of our senior book coaches will provide feedback on your manuscript while you’re writing.
  •  One of our senior book coaches will help you to decide on your book’s title, subtitle, and description.
  • Our production team will design your book’s cover and interior, both 100% custom.
  • Our production team will format all of the files needed to publish your book as an ebook, paperback, and hardback.
  • Our marketing team will set up your author website and email list.
  • Our production team will actually PUBLISH your book, making all versions of your book for sale globally, with our best practices embedded with Amazon keywords, categories, and more, all done for you.

We are truly coaching and mentoring you through this entire process, bringing our expertise to plug into the most essential pieces for you to ensure your book’s success.

You might be wondering,
"What types of books are a fit for this Book Coaching & Mentorship Program"?

This program is best for folks who are writing a nonfiction book that will help to grow your business, gets you featured on stages, will be read by your clients and peers, and pave the way making a bigger impact in your industry.

We’re pulling together the team and resources for folks who are specifically writing business-building books, including some very special bonuses, which I can tell you a little bit more about now.

You might be wondering, "What's the cost?"

Typically, our team has only worked with concierge-level clients who have paid us $30,000, $40,000, and $50,000 to publish and launch their books. For our concierge clients, we’ve launched bestsellers for speakers, consultants, and industry leaders across business, money, psychology, wellness, technology, medicine, spirituality, self-help and more.

And we’ve taken all the lessons and best practices we’ve learned from their author journeys, and pulled everything together into a streamlined path for YOU, at a much more approachable investment.

I’ll tell you, though, it’s not cheap. And it’s not for everyone.

But if you’ve been looking for the perfect combination of mentorship and services to finally get your book done, published, and launched in the next year…

I’m offering EVERYTHING I’ve just outlined above for one payment of $9,500.

And we do have the flexibility of a payment plan to help make it as affordable as possible.

And you might want to know, "What's the catch?"

Frankly, we don't offer this level of personalized support and guidance to just anyone. We need to know that you're serious and committed to writing and publishing your book. We've met plenty of folks who say they want to write a book and turn out to be all talk and no action.  (But, I have a feeling that because you're here, that's not you!) To make sure we're on the same page before we talk about working together, we do require an application and a phone call to make sure that we're a good fit.

Simply submit your $100 application fee that is fully refundable. If you’re not a fit or you change your mind, we’ll send that $100 straight back to you, right when we're on the phone with you. If you are a fit and you are accepted, we’ll credit that $100 application fee toward your balance for the program. It's risk-free and 100% guaranteed.

You’ll fill out the application questions, and you’ll book a call with us so that we can chat. We’ll get to know a bit more about you and your book, and we’ll chat about whether this is a good fit for you.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE

Q: Is this a DIY (“Do It Yourself”) online course where you just show me stuff, and I have to figure out how to do it all myself?

Nope! This book coaching and mentorship program is a hybrid program.

Some pieces are workshops that cover foundational concepts that you’ll need to know as an author and are available for you at your convenience. (We all have busy lives, so let’s be efficient when it makes sense to do so!)

And, yes, some pieces, it’s just better for a professional to do for you! Our goal is to make this author journey both affordable and a smooth process for you. We are truly coaching and mentoring you through this entire process, bringing our expertise to plug into the most essential pieces for you to ensure your book’s success.

Q: What about editing? Are you going to do all the developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading, too?

Actually, no, our editorial team is not going to do comprehensive editing on your book. We racked our brains with the best way to try to include editing, and it gets complicated quickly. Are you writing a book that’s going to be 30,000 words long or 90,000 words long? You probably won’t even know how long it’s going to be until you get 20 or 30 hours into writing.

We could have increased the price of the program to try to accommodate editing, but chances are you’d end up paying more than you really need to for editing, in that case.

So, instead, we’re going to be reviewing your manuscript at a high level as you write (initial structure, 20,000-word review, finished manuscript review), so we can make sure your first draft is coming together well with a coherent structure and compelling narrative arc for the reader. This is the most important part of the writing process that benefits most from the guidance of a professional book coach.

And then we’ll also show you how to customize some incredibly powerful AI tools to do copyediting and proofreading. Even some of the free tools can be tuned to do high-quality editing, so we’re confident that if you can put the content together, we can help you get to a polished final manuscript before we format your book.

And, yes, if you want to add-on a developmental edit pass or copyedit pass or proofread pass, we’ll be able to do that at the rate we reserve for our VIP clients. So, that will be available to you, if you’d like.

Truly, though, we anticipate that we can help you produce a high-quality manuscript without any further editorial investment.

Q: What’s the timing on all of this? What if I want to go faster? Or slower? Are you going to keep me on a lame, lock-step group timeline?

Nope! We’ll move as quickly or as measuredly as you’d like, given your rhythm of work and travel, and 12 months is plenty of time to finish all of these pieces together. We've worked with hundreds of authors who might have a career, business, family, travel, medical issues, and we've paced this coaching and mentorship program with real life in mind.

When we begin working together, you’ll get immediate access to resources that will help organize your initial thoughts, and we’ll schedule your first call with one of our senior book coaches at a time that works for your schedule. You’ll also receive details on any group calls that will be scheduled far in advance, so you can plug them into your calendar.

If you want to write your book in a matter of weeks and keep moving through, no problem! We’ll be ready to help you move to the next step in the publication process as quickly as you want (while making sure we’re not cutting corners because we do want to produce a professional book).

If you have just a few hours per week or some travel to plan around, and you want to go at a more manageable pace, that’s fine, too. We’re not going to hurry you along. We do want to make sure that we’re helping you to make good progress on your book, and 12 months is plenty of time to accomplish the whole process together.

Q: What if I miss the live group calls?

We’ll have the ability for you to submit questions ahead of time and watch the replays, so you’ll be able to catch up on anything you miss and stay on track with your book’s progress.

Q: Is this actually self-publishing? Or are you going to publish my book into your account like some publishers do and keep my royalties?

This is true self-publishing. We know the companies that say they’ll help you, “self-publish,” but then they actually upload your book files into their KDP accounts so that, even as the author, you can’t access your own book and can’t even see the sales numbers.

We help you set up your own KDP account so that you’ll always have full control over your own book. Ever want to change your book description? Add an editorial review? See the sales of your book? No problem! You’ll have direct access to your own book to do any of these things. (And with our coaching, you’ll know exactly how to do that, too.)

Q: When you say you’re going to “design” my cover and interior for me, is that going to be just an ugly template?

Fair question, and no! Our designers will provide multiple options, specifically designed with your book in mind, for you to choose from. Plus, you can make any requests or changes you’d like, while we’re in that design phase.

Q: So, this really is MY book? The intellectual property will be mine? And the royalties go directly to me?

Yes, our goal is simple: to create a high-quality, compelling book that you’ll be proud to sell for years and decades to come.

It’s custom. It’s professional. It’s YOURS.

Yes, the content is yours. The design is yours. The marketing strategy is yours. The profits are yours.

Every file, every account, and every sale goes directly to you.

Q: This sounds a little too good to be true. Why are you doing this?

We’ve now reached an “economies of scale” with our team. We work with enough 1:1 clients on a consistent basis, that it’s not that much extra work for one of our senior book coaches to review your manuscript or host a critique workshop, or for one of our designers to put together some cover designs for your book, or for one of our marketers to set up a website for you.

Plus, we’ve now published over 160 books, so we’ve refined our processes to the point that we can actually coach you through the process. There are a lot of steps that, if you don’t mind learning how to do it with us, we can actually empower you to do on your own. Sure, we’re there for questions, but much of the book journey is simply knowing the steps to take, and we’ve got that covered for you.

So, yes, this just happens to be a perfect window of time, where we feel we can coach and mentor a SMALL group of writers through this process, with our team to plug into the most essential pieces to do for you, and it can be a real win-win for everyone.

After all, my salt as a publisher is only worth as much as the success of my authors. So, I help you actually write, publish, and successfully launch your book? And when your adoring fans ask you how you got your book published? You point them to my team, and it’s a great situation for all of us, right? :)

If this feels like it could be a fit for your author journey,
my recommendation is this:

We are currently closed for enrollment. We keep our Book Coaching & Mentorship cohorts small so we can make sure you're getting the support and guidance you need through writing, publishing, and launching your book.

If you'd like to join the Priority Notification List, though, we can let you know as soon as the next spot opens up.
